Which? tested popular smart toys and found several that could potentially put your child at risk.
Toys are meant to be fun, but there’s nothing entertaining about a stranger using one to talk to your child. Yet we’ve found toys available to buy this Christmas that might be used to do just that.
We first investigated smart toys in 2017, testing a range of toys featuring a network connection, app or other smart interactive feature.
We found concerning vulnerabilities at that time, and so it’s extremely worrying that two years on we are here reporting similar issues.
We purchased seven smart toys from major retailers, including Amazon, Smyths, Argos & John Lewis, and asked security specialist lab, NCC Group, to test them. NCC found various concerning issues that could potentially put children at risk.
